What is the Eucharist? Or better asked: Who? The Roman Catholic Church teaches that the Eucharist is the living Jesus Christ. This obviously sounds very special (and it is!), but how do we know that this is true? In what way is it a matter of faith and in what way is it a matter of knowledge and logic? It is important for believers to be aware of the answers to these questions, including through catechesis.
Through project ‘Albertus en Acutis’, we are writing a book on four Eucharistic miracles and their underlying research.
This project has a focus on strengthening faith in the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. The target group here is not those who already believe in the real presence, for “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe” (John 20:29). However, Jesus showed himself to the unbelieving Thomas so that he too came to believe. Likewise, this project is aimed at the unbelieving Thomases of our time, both inside and outside the Church.
However, it is important to mention that an objective and scientific view is taken from this project. So it is not so much a religious book used for evangelisation, but rather one that uses science within a Catholic context.
